vedas – world peace prayer

We are as happy as we want to be.  It is a choice.  We can easily get mired down in the muck or, like a lotus, we can rise above into beauty, light, peace, happiness.  It doesn’t have to be big stuff that makes us happy.  Sometimes it’s the littlest things that do it.  Other times, big things come into our lives and warm us up from deep within.  Just a few things this week that have made me happy as I can be …

  • Kripalu yoga 4x a week.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays, it is complimented with an aromatherapy touch by my beautiful instructor, Linda.
  • Having sushi with Megan and honoring ourselves as we put the seat cushions on the floor and ate there instead of in chairs.
  • Seeing my redbud tree bud out.
  • Walking downtown with Stealth and Duck.
  • An early birthday present (thank you, Megan.  Be sure to check out her Etsy shop and her website.)
  • B spontaneously offering to bring home dinner.
  • Al-Anon
  • Not looking like this.
  • Increased flexibility of body and mind.
  • Butch, Spook, Autumn, Robbie, Mr. Kite, and Apollo – the amazing animals we spent time with while volunteering this week at CMHS.
  • 14¢ organic dark chocolates from Peace Nook.
  • Sewing book covers in my newly revamped sewing room.
  • A new bright pink tank top.
  • Reading in bed nightly with a hot cup of tea and a heating pad warming the sheets.
  • Curry Cauliflower soup
  • Bird songs
  • Daily affirmations
  • lilac candles
  • a visit from my brother
  • doing something special as a surprise for him (I’ll write about it when I know he’s gotten it.)
  • Cowbell
  • Finding a long lost DVD
  • Buying a new book of daily meditations
  • Red toenails
  • reading aloud with my children
  • spa music
  • adding a 2nd gym location
  • gaining acceptance and continuing to replace resentments with forgiveness.
  • Hank kisses

What is bringing you happiness right now?

International Day of Peace

September 21, 2008

We are all tired of hurting.  We are all tired of hurting each other.  We are all ready for love, gratitude, peace, forgiveness, hope, joy, unity, healing.  Let it begin with me.

Please consider doing something today to honor and celebrate, nourish and propogate peace.  Let it begin with you, too.

Miracles, Guardian Angels, and M&Ms

September 16, 2008

How do you write about something that has no words?  How do you paint a picture of something that can only be felt?  How do you share miracles that you cannot hold in your hand, gifts that have no wrapping, blessings that circle in the wind?  I dunno, but I’m going to try.

I went on my retreat this past weekend and was transformed beyond measure.  My heart expanded and grew more than the Grinch’s at Christmas.  My soul grew wings.  My eyes opened, my lungs finally drew a full breath, and my mind found peace.    I saw miracles happening left and right.  I felt years of pain and fear leave me and float down a river in a boat of acceptance.  I felt my whole body lift up as Hope flew in with a promise to carry me through anything.  I felt the loving arms of my Gathering Of Divinity wrap around me and say, “Finally you know I will never leave you.”  I left the retreat with 67 guardian angels, fairy godmothers, sisters of the soul.  And I also ate a lot of chocolate.  😉

I now have a clear and open connection to my higher self.

I dance and the Universe dances with me.

I am exactly where I need to be.

I am love and acceptance in motion.

I am a blessing to all those who know me.

I touch those near me with love and gentleness

I am connected to all that is good

I am on the Broad Highway walking hand in hand with the Spirit of the Universe.

I am a miracle in progress

And so are you.

A 20 minute gift

September 6, 2008

If you do nothing else for youself today, spend 20 minutes watching this amazing video of Jill Bolte Taylor, brain scientist, explaining what her stroke was like for her as it happened.  The result changed her life and is a powerful message to us all.  Which side would you choose?

Saturday Sermon

August 9, 2008

Wage peace with your breath.

Breathe in firemen and rubble,
breathe out whole buildings and flocks of red wing blackbirds.

Breathe in terrorists
and breathe out sleeping children and freshly mown fields.

Breathe in confusion and breathe out maple trees.

Breathe in the fallen and breathe out lifelong friendships intact.

Wage peace with your listening: hearing sirens, pray loud.

Remember your tools: flower seeds, clothes pins, clean rivers.

Make soup.

Play music, memorize the words for thank you in three languages.

Learn to knit, and make a hat.

Think of chaos as dancing raspberries,
imagine grief
as the outbreath of beauty
or the gesture of fish.

Swim for the other side.

Wage peace.

Never has the world seemed so fresh and precious:

Have a cup of tea and rejoice.

Act as if armistice has already arrived.
Celebrate today.

Good luck, Big Brother.  Thinking of you today and always and celebrating.  I love you.

What I needed today – Exactly

July 28, 2008

I was reading some of my favorite Unschooling blogs today and eventually wound up here, learning about a brilliant new artist named Amy Steinberg.

I read the lyrics and listened to the music -I highly recommend you do, too.  She’s brilliant.

What touched me today, however, is this song:

i am exactly where i need to be
i need to be exactly where i am
i am a blessing manifest
i can undress the moment
naked time unwinds beneath my mind
and from within i find the kind of beauty
only i can find
i am exactly where i need to be
i need to be exactly where i am
i am surrendering so willingly
to be the perfect me inside this now
and truly how else could it be
destiny she blesses me
when i try to fight or run
i only wind up back at square one
when i think i know what’s best for me
fate she takes me back
to exactly where i need to be
i am exactly where i need to be
i need to be exactly where i am
i am divinely timed and shining brightly
yes i believe that there’s a purpose just for me
yes i believe that we are light
and we shine infinitely
i am exactly where i need to be
i need to be exactly where i am
i am not aimlessly existing see
i am in perfect harmony with universal energy
and i am truly free when i accept my own divinity
look at me look at me closely
what exactly do you see
if you are paying attention you will now begin ascension of the mind
why, because if you look at me just right you will see a kiss
for it took a kiss to make this breath exist
the intersection of my mother’s and father’s lips
to touch twist and perfect what came next to produce me
look at me and you will see the breeze
the breeze it took to shake the leaves to make
my mother’s hair move, my father dare touch it and say
please may i have a kiss
yes the breeze made me exist
and if you want to get even deeper into this
when you look at me you will see a cloud
the cloud it took to form the storm to shake the leaves to
inspire the liplock – yes a raindrop will pop up out these words
you heard me right
if you look at me close enough you will see a dark stormy night
and what is night without it’s polar opposite of sunlight
so if you watch the way my hands sway
you’ll see the light of day
and everyday is a testament to the sediment of the earth’s core
it’s ever spinning enormous force so if you look at me just right
you will see a spark of the source
but the most fascinating thing about this, and it’s true
is that if you look at me close enough, you see you
it’s only what you perceive how you believe the space between
you and me
that creates reality
so when i sing you can feel it
when i cry you can heal it
when i speak words you can be the words i speak by singing with me
peace love free
peace love free
peace love free
and when i am alone and full of fear
i just remember the rising sun always appears
everyday miracles that i see
well they take me back to exactly where i need to be

You can listen to the song on her site.  It’s amazing.  I must have it.  Exactly.
