Leaving Rydell High

July 19, 2008

As much as I love Frenchie, I just cannot live my life looking like a pineapple.  Apparently, she couldn’t either, as she is back to brown by the end of Grease!

I woke this morning and realized that I do not have a Pink Lady jacket and needed to attend to the tropical fruit that had taken up residence on my head.  Afeared of messing it up further, I called the Clairol hotline and was given specific intructions to do some sort of amazing chemistry experiment that would return my hair to something resembling, well … hair!  And what do you know?  It WORKED!

I’ll be staying blond until fall.  Then I’ll do a few weeks of crazy colors – pink again, blue, purple, maybe green. When all that is done, I’m going dark for the Fall and Winter.

Pineapple or not, I still say life is too short to be bored with your hair!

Jackie Blue

April 11, 2008

This post has nothing to do with Jackie Blue.  I don’t even know who the hell Jackie Blue is.  I do know that I like the song “Jackie Blue” by The Ozark Mountain Daredevils.  It’s playing on iTunes and I couldn’t think of a better post title, so there you have it.

Speaking of iTunes, I caused mine to have some sort of cramp or distress or something today and lo and behold, it managed to work said cramp out just fine. I cannot really blame it — I do have a tendency to put it through some trauma.  See, my PC has been acting up as PC are known to do.  It happens sometimes — no biggie.  To combat this little side effect of not being a Mac, I back up all my files and then restore the whole computer back to factory settings (wipe it clean) once a year.  It takes a couple of days to get it all cleared up, but when it happens, it’s like having a brand new computer.  Anyway, so this time it took me a total of 10 DVDs to store all the music files I have (36 G) and when I then dumped them all into my iTunes library, well, it kind of choked.  Bless the little thing, though, it’s a trouper, and we’re all a go!

“Hot Rod Lincoln” by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen — awesome!

Did another radio show last night with DDFF.  It was fun and much needed.  I really feel quite at home in a radio studio.  I’ve done lots of TV, but only 2 radio shows and I am surprised at how easy I feel in there.  Following the show, DDFF treated me to dinner at a little Chinese place across from the station.  I desperately needed to get out and talk to a good friend.  It’s not been the easiest few weeks for me and I tend to isolate myself during those times which only complicates situations, of course.  Anyway, over soup, egg rolls, and yummy chicken and shrimp, I was heard, I was validated, I was supported, I was encouraged.  It was wonderful and I’m so grateful to have my friends.  And I’m also grateful to have friends who can share in the memory of the absolutely worst excuse for an amaretto sour that ever existed.  DAYUM, that was horrid.  DDFF, I love you.  Thanks.  Hope to see you tonight!

And tonight … tonight is a night I’ve been looking forward to for months. My dear friend, SS, is coming in from NZ and we’re going out for drinks.  HOT DAMN.  I have missed her for 2 years and cannot wait to see her and hug her neck.  WAHOO!

Another I Like that I forgot to add the other day …

You cannot really see anything from this crazy ass picture, but it’s LOreal Paris Couleur Experte hair color and high lighting system.  I do it in French Eclair – how can I turn down pastry?  Lordy Lordy Lordy.  Easy, fun, beautiful.  Get thyself some now.  Although in all fairness, the box looks a little different now, so make sure you know what you’re getting.  I don’t want a bunch of involuntarily green haired women coming after me.

Birthday is Tuesday.  Birthday is Tuesday. Birthday is Tuesday.

Took a tour of the gym the other day.  DAMN!  That place is amazing.  Seriously amazing.  Marble floors and art in the locker rooms, fireplaces in the lobby, mineral water pools and saunas and whirlpools.  PT departments, sports stores, restaurant, and an endless list of  classes.  Machines have TVs in them.  Ceiling to floor windows overlooking woods, hills, fields.  I could live there.  The kids love the Play Center (read: child care room) and feel very comfortable there.  I cannot wait to start going.  We’re gonna wait a bit to get my membership – we’re getting a corporate one with the folks from W’s, so we’ll get a significant discount that way, so we gotta wait for everyone to get their ducks in a row.  After that, I may never ever come home again.

That is all for now.  I know your life has been enlightened by this post enough already — I’d hate to blow your minds.
