Universe, please work with me ….

August 31, 2007

I have a bit of a situation going on here.

The 3rd weekend of September is the shoot date for The MotherHip’s first instructional dvd (don’t you just love saying the first — ’cause you know there will be more than one.)  Shooting takes place in the next state to our West and will take 3 – 4 days.

I also have a client due that weekend.

There’s also a home football game that weekend resulting in B being gone much of the time.

AND

My inlaws, although they were well aware of me having a client due, decided to do a stupid 5 day long seminar that encompasses that weekend.

I need to be at the Shoot.  I need to be with my client.  And I need freaking childcare.

Deep breaths, Mama.  Everything as it should be….

We did it!!!!

August 30, 2007

Ah, after much frantic insanity, The MotherHip made it’s first appearance in front of national television cameras.

DDFF wrote about it perfectly – go check her blog for details.

I’m still spinning and thanking my lucky stars that, while there were several close calls, my girls stayed in my shirt.  Whew!!

GMA might have to be postponed until Monday — details coming.  Until then, I’m gonna pray to my Rock and Roll Jesus.

Holy. Crap.

August 28, 2007

You know when you hear that big things are gonna happen and you’re kind of like, “Yeah, well, that’s nice and all. I’ll believe it when I see it…” ?  I mean, yes, it’s gonna happen, yes, you know all about it, but until it slaps you upside the head, you don’t really believe it?

I just got slapped upside the head. BIG. TIME.

Good Morning America is coming to film The MotherHip’s current prenatal belly dance class tomorrow night at 6:30.   YES.  That’s right.  GMA is coming to film our class.  TOMORROW. NIGHT.

DDFF and I are buzzing like fluorescent lights.  We’re wondering about hair, makeup, clothes, etc.  I need a pedicure.  Are my teeth white enough?  Do I have a good razor?  Are the pregnant mamas gonna hold on?

National television, ya’ll.  NATIONAL FREAKING TELEVISION.

SO, send good thoughts our way tomorrow night.  Not that we’ll need them — this is what we do —  but good thoughts never hurt anyone and I’m wanting all the good mojo I can get!!

The MotherHip is launching … in a big big way!!!

Mamakohl’s Moxie

August 26, 2007

This is one of my most recent designs, commissioned by the fine owners of Ozark Handspun.  The pattern and the skirt belong to them now — if you want it, contact them.  🙂

Made of wool, Ozark Handspun yarn, and 100% silk (and a leather button,) this layered skirt is only for those full of moxie, like your very own Mamakohl.

Pinball Science

August 25, 2007

 Pinball Science

Oh my goodness, I love this game.  I just picked it up from our local teacher’s store.  It cost me about $20.  Made by the guy who does The Way Things Work, this game teaches science (physics, folks!!) in ways that kids love to learn — they create their own pinball games by answering physics questions (of course, they have to research the answers to the questions through the game, so it also teaches reading skills, reading comprehension, research skills, typing, etc.)  Worth every single penny, I’m telling you.

My guys are mesmerized by this – it’s so cool to hear my kids learn and comprehend kinetic energy, momentum, friction, and the whole deal.  LOVE IT.
