Doggie buscuits
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour**
2 cups whole wheat flour**
1 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup dry milk powder
1 Tbsp dry yeast
3 1/2 cups lukewarm chicken or beef broth
Egg wash (egg & water)
Combine all dry ingredients
Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm broth. Let sit for 10 min. Then mix with dry ingredients
Roll resulting dough out till 1/4″ thick, cut into shapes
Place on greased cookie sheet, brush with egg wash
Backe at 300 degrees for 45 minutes. Turn oven off, but leave buscuits in oven over night to harden.
Store in airtight container.
** I ended up using more flour than this recipe called for. I’m assuming the best bet is to start off with 5 1/2 cups of flour and keep adding it until you get a workable dough.
Peanut Butter Doggie Cake
1 cup white or whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup shredded carrots
1 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup honey
1 egg
Preheat oven to 350°F
Mix together flour and baking soda. Add remining ingredients and mix well. Pour into a greased ring mold. Bake for 40 minutes.
Frost cake with low fat cottage cheese and decorate with carrot pieces. Store in refrigerator.
