Gratitude Tree for Thanksgiving

November 3, 2007

We are doing a Gratitude / Thankfulness tree this year.  I got the idea from a blog I came across, although the author actually used a real tree branch.

I made a sad and pitiful looking tree out of construction paper and taped it to our tiny wall by our kitchen table.  We do most of our official “schooling” there, so it seemed appropriate.  I also cut out lots of “leaves” in fall colors.

We spoke about how life without gratitude is bare and ugly and sad and pitiful, like our sad tree.

Everyday, we will pick a leaf and write on it something we’re thankful for, no matter what it may be, and we’ll tape it on the tree.

Today, we’re thankful for Family (me,) Chatting (Duck,) and Peanut Butter and Jelly (Stealth.) B  isn’t home, so I’m sure he’ll fill his leaf in tonight.

I’d love to hear what you do in your family (or what your kids do in school) to teach gratitude and prepare for Thanksgiving.

Oh yeah, Stealth is dressed up as a Ninja and Duck is wearing a girls PJ top – both for unknown reasons.  Maybe tomorrow’s leaf will be “Nutter Children.”
