101 things
SO everyone and their sister has done this long ago. Thought I’d jump on late, right when it becomes passe. Good enough - I hate fads and trends.
1. My first name is Sarah
2. My middle name has changed since birth.
3. I changed it when I married B - I took my maiden name as my middle name then.
4. I used to hate my middle name.
5. It is also my Mother’s middle name.
6. Now that I don’t have it any more, I kind of like the name.
7. Not enough to change it back.
8. I have 2 children.
8. They look nothing alike.
9. People often ask if they have the same father.
10. I find that terribly rude.
11. YES, they do have the same father.
12. They are both smarter than me — almost.
13. I like it like that.
14. We unschool our kids.
15. I’m married to B.
16. We got married when our first son was 8 months old.
17. I’ve loved my husband for a long time.
18. My first interaction with him was when I was 18.
19. He was dating a girlfriend of mine.
20. I smoked pot in his VW bus with him.
21. It was the highlight of my year.
22. I’d had a crush on him for 2 years at that point.
23. I then went to college.
24. I eventually married someone else when I was 21.
25. I referred to my ex-husband as “my first husband” during our engagement.
26. The only reason I went through with that marriage was because my Mom had gone all over the freaking free world looking for silk magnolia swags for the ceremony and I didn’t want to let her down.
27. Yes, I’m fully aware of how stupid that was.
28. I’ve never told her that.
29. During that marriage, I frequently lived with out electricity or heat or a phone.
30. My ex-husband spent all our money on …. I guess buckets of stupidity.
31. We were married just over 2 years.
32. I left him, though, after 18 months.
33. I left him for B.
34. That’s not true - I left him for me. B was the catalyst.
35. Our first son was born 1 year to the date of our first kiss (In case you’ve lost your score card, B is the father of both kids.)
36. I still remember every tiny detail surrounding that first kiss.
37. We own our own home.
38. I’m really, really proud of that fact.
39. I love to cook.
40. I collect cookbooks - can never have enough.
41. Yes, I actually do cook out of all of them.
42. I make foods that I never saw as a child.
43. I don’t make desserts, though.
44. With the exception of the occasional peanut butter cookie.
45. I also make doggie treats.
46. I love dogs.
47. I mean, I REALLY love dogs.
48. Especially Hank.
49. Hank talks a lot - just like me.
50. I breastfed both my boys.
51. Duck was breastfed for 17 months.
52. I only weaned him because I was pregnant with Stealth and was very sick.
53. I had a disorder during my pregnancy with Stealth called Hyperemisis Gravidarum.
54. It nearly killed me.
55. Stealth was breastfed until he was 2.
56. I hold onto the fact that, while I may screw my kids up tremendously during their lives, I at least started them off right.
57. Neither one of my children ever had a single drop of formula.
58. I like to knit.
59. My mom taught me to knit when I was 7.
60. I promptly forgot what she taught me within a week or so.
61. 2 years ago, I sat at her kitchen table for 15 minutes and relearned.
62. Since then, I’ve knit more things than anyone can imagine.
63. I’ve made quite a bit of money with my knitting.
64. I also spin wool (and a host of other fibers) into yarn.
65. I own my own Louet wheel.
66. I like to zone out while spinning.
67. I have an “inspiration” poster in front of my wheel.
67. The poster is a collage of Elvis, Bob Marley, Jerry Garcia, and Kid Rock.
68. I love yoga and Pilates.
69. I’m better at yoga.
70. I can bend pretty much anyway you could imagine.
71. I like being healthy and fit.
72. DDFF is my partner in this.
73. I lurve her for kicking my ass into shape weekly.
74. I drink a lot of coffee.
75. I eat a lot of sushi.
76. I love protein - particularly in bean form.
77. I could eat Taco Bell wayyyyyyy too often.
78. I don’t like fried foods - tempura being the only exception.
79. I don’t do white condiments. Period.
80. Unless they are blended in with other foods, ie. twice baked potatoes, tofu salad, etc.
81. I love documentaries.
82. I always have my toenails painted.
83. I paint them while watching documentaries.
84. I’d love to live off the grid someday.
85. I believe that marijuana is a leaf, not a drug.
86. I love popcorn with nutritional yeast.
87. I’m concerned about my sodium intake and yet don’t really do much about it other than say, “DAMN!!! Look at how much sodium is in that!!!”
88. I believe in karma.
89. I don’t believe in “God.”
90. I don’t believe you go to heaven or hell when you die - it’s somewhere you make for yourself during your life.
91. I am pro-choice in all things.
92. I think Fox News is the same as Jumbo Shrimp, Even Odds, and Growing Small.
93. I believe they should outlaw the Electoral College and allow each citizen to vote in the Primary.
94. I’m very outspoken about my beliefs.
95. I don’t care if you disagree with me. I respect your right to do so.
96. I avoid chain restaurants - except Taco Bell (c’mon, a girl’s gotta have her vice.)
97. I don’t ride bikes.
98. I adore and nurture my friendships.
99. I use only natural toothpaste.
